MONDAY: GOV. MALLOY PROMOTES SUMMER MEALS PROGRAM; SIGNS HISTORIC ENERGY LEGISLATION
(HARTFORD, CT) - On Monday morning, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will join Connecticut Education Commissioner Stefan Pryor and representatives of the Connecticut No Kid Hungry campaign for a news conference in Hartford to launch the Summer Meals Program. More than 400 federally-funded summer meals locations are open throughout Connecticut that serve free, nutritious meals to children and teens, 18 years of age and younger, all summer long. By heightening visibility of this program, the Connecticut No Kid Hungry campaign and its partners aim to increase participation in the state's 2013 summer meals program by 9 percent.
In the afternoon, Governor Malloy will join lawmakers and energy advocates for a bill signing ceremony to celebrate the final approval of legislation (Public Act 13-298 and Public Act 13-303) that will lower consumer utility rates, create jobs, expand energy choices, and better protect the environment and natural resources.
