GOV. MALLOY CAUTIONS RESIDENTS ABOUT POTENTIAL HAZARDOUS WEATHER CONDITIONS
(HARTFORD, CT) - Governor Dannel P. Malloy today cautioned residents about potential hazardous weather conditions impacting the state.
"This latest round of severe weather will be similar to last week's event," Governor Malloy said. "The current forecast is calling for heavy rain to continue through Friday morning, so I am asking residents in low-lying areas and those along Connecticut's rivers and streams to be aware of deteriorating weather conditions."
The National Weather Service has posted flood watches and warnings throughout the state. The current forecast is calling for 1-3" of rain with some locally higher amounts possible. The forecasted rainfall amounts could result in minor flooding on the state's large rivers and moderate flooding on some small rivers and streams. The larger rivers in Connecticut are expected to continue rising through the day on Friday, cresting either Friday night or during the day on Saturday.
The Division of Emergency Management and Homeland Security (DEMHS) continues to monitor the storm and is ready to coordinate any response or assistance that may be necessary.
