TUESDAY: GOV. MALLOY SPEAKS AT ENERGY EFFICIENCY EVENT; ADDRESSES STATE TOURISM CONFERENCE; MAKES AFFORDABLE HOUSING ANNOUNCEMENT

(HARTFORD, CT) - On Tuesday morning, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will give welcoming remarks at the Power of Change awards ceremony, which was created by the Emily Hall Tremaine Foundation, the Hampshire Foundation, and the Common Sense Fund to recognize Connecticut's state and municipal buildings that have made energy efficiency a core value.

Later, Governor Malloy will open the Connecticut Conference on Tourism , an annual statewide industry forum providing educational and networking opportunities to tourism operators, travel and leisure organizations, industry partners and businesses throughout Connecticut. The forum will also showcase the impact of Connecticut's "Still Revolutionary" tourism campaign and provide an update on those efforts. In Connecticut, travel and tourism activities generate $11.5 billion annually in economic activity and are responsible for 110,000 jobs. The sector saw a 3.9% employment growth in 2012.

In the afternoon, Governor Malloy will hold a news conference in New Haven to announce state funding for additional affordable housing initiatives throughout Connecticut. He will be joined by Department of Housing Commissioner Evonne Klein and Mayor John DeStefano.
