TUESDAY: GOV. MALLOY PARTICIPATES IN NEW HAVEN POLICE DEPARTMENT'S WEEKLY COMPSTAT MEETING; ATTENDS STAMFORD CITIZEN OF THE YEAR CEREMONY

(HARTFORD, CT) - On Tuesday morning, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will participate in the New Haven Police Department's regularly scheduled CompStat meeting. These meetings are held weekly and give the police department an opportunity to meet with other public safety officials, community members, clergy, and victim advocate groups to discuss crime trends and their plans for tackling them. On the state level, Governor Malloy directed his administration to focus increased criminal justice resources on reducing urban violence, including through the state's active participation in " Project Longevity ," a comprehensive initiative of federal, state, and local law enforcement officials who partner with local community members to reduce gun violence in the state's major cities.

In the evening, Governor Malloy will give remarks at the 68th annual Stamford Citizen of the Year dinner, where Jami Sherwood will be inducted as this year's recipient.
