THURSDAY: GOV. MALLOY ATTENDS BRIDGEPORT POLICE DEPARTMENT COMPSTAT MEETING; SPEAKS AT GOVERNOR'S SCHOLARS PROGRAM EVENT; HOLDS COMMUNITY FORUM IN BRISTOL

(HARTFORD, CT) - On Thursday morning, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will participate in the Bridgeport Police Department's regularly scheduled CompStat meeting. This meeting will give the police department an opportunity to meet with other public safety officials, community members, clergy, and victim advocates to discuss crime trends and their plans for tackling them. Recently on the state level, Governor Malloy directed his administration to focus increased criminal justice resources on reducing urban violence, including through the state's active participation in "Project Longevity," a comprehensive initiative of federal, state, and local law enforcement officials who partner with local community members to reduce gun violence in the state's major cities.

Later, Governor Malloy will give remarks at the Governor's Scholars Program Luncheon, hosted by the Connecticut Association of Schools, where thirty students from across the state will be honored for their academic success.

In the evening, Governor Malloy and Lt. Governor Wyman will hold a community forum in Bristol, where they will speak with members of the public on the state's pressing issues. This will be the eighth event to date in this year's series of community forums.
