MONDAY: GOV. MALLOY VISITS NEW HAVEN, NEW BRITAIN & NEWINGTON

(HARTFORD, CT) - On Monday morning, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will speak with a group of around 350 New Haven Public School students ages 10 to 14 who will receive free tennis lessons throughout the day as part of the New Haven Open at Yale's Free Lesson at the Connecticut Tennis Center program. This year, at least half of the students will include participants in the Governor's Prevention Partnership, an organization that partners with schools, businesses, community and faith-based organizations to ensure that children are involved in safe, quality mentoring relationships. Rising star Taylor Townsend, the No. 1 junior tennis player in the world, will lead the students in an introductory lesson.

Later, Governor Malloy will join New Britain Mayor Tim O'Brien, local officials and representatives from the Connecticut affiliate of the American Federation of Teachers for a news conference at New Britain's Gaffney Elementary School to discuss the need for education funding in New Britain.

In the afternoon, Governor Malloy will hold a news conference at a brownfield site in Newington, where he will announce a new round of state grants for municipalities throughout Connecticut to be used for brownfield cleanup projects. Immediately following, the Governor will tour the site and view the latest construction at the adjacent CTfastrak station.
