(HARTFORD, CT) - Governor Dannel P. Malloy today released the following statement in response to a vote by the members of the Board of Regents for Higher Education on Thursday to appoint Dr. Gregory W. Gray to be the next President of the Board of Regents, which governs the 17 Connecticut State Colleges & Universities (ConnSCU), which includes 12 community colleges, four state universities and Charter Oak State College, the state's only public, online institution.
"I want to congratulate Lewis Robinson and the rest of the Board on their selection of Greg Gray as President of the Board of Regents. I had the pleasure of meeting with Dr. Gray before his appointment and believe he is an excellent choice. With over 40 years in academia, Dr. Gray comes to us with the expertise and bold vision that is needed to lead this system so they can continue to attract and retain talented students, turn out a workforce with the skills to fill the 21st Century jobs we are so aggressively pursuing and make Connecticut a stronger, more competitive state."
