FRIDAY: GOV. MALLOY ANNOUNCES NEW MANUFACTURING EDUCATION INITIATIVE AT GOODWIN COLLEGE; JOINS U.S. EDUCATION SECRETARY FOR TOWN HALL ON SCHOOL SAFETY
(HARTFORD, CT) - On Friday morning, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will join Congressman John Larson to announce a new innovative partnership at Goodwin College in East Hartford that will help strengthen Connecticut's manufacturing workforce. With more than 20,000 unfilled manufacturing jobs statewide, high-tech manufacturing is at a critical point in Connecticut, where advertised manufacturing jobs are expected to rise dramatically as a generation of skilled workers retire over the next five to ten years.
In the afternoon, Governor Malloy will join U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan in Hartford to co-host a town hall on education reform and school safety, which will be attended by parents, students and other education stakeholders. They will be joined by Lt. The town hall will be followed by a media availability.
