GOV. MALLOY STATEMENT ON NOMINATION OF ANTHONY FOXX AS SECRETARY OF U.S. DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION
(HARTFORD, CT) - Governor Dannel P. Malloy today released the following statement regarding President Barack Obama's nomination of Anthony Foxx to serve as Secretary of the U.S. Department of Transportation:
"As mayor of a major city, Anthony Foxx has first-hand experience understanding the vital role that a strong transportation infrastructure plays in the sustainable development, economic growth and enhanced quality of life for a community and its residents. I look forward to working closely with him in this new role as we continue Connecticut's aggressive efforts to modernize our transportation system and ensure that we have an infrastructure in place that encourages growth and job creation.
"I also want to commend Ray LaHood for his years of service to the nation in his role as Secretary and as a U.S. Congressman. He has had a direct role in supporting several of Connecticut's major transportation initiatives, including the New Haven-Hartford-Springfield Rail Program, CTfastrak, and modernization projects for our state highways. I thank him for the time and dedication he has given, and wish him the best."
