GOV. MALLOY ANNOUNCES $500,000 ECONOMIC ASSISTANCE FOR PLAINFIELD
Town Will Repair Major Route to Business Center
(HARTFORD, CT) - Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced $500,000 Small Town Economic Assistance Program (STEAP) to the Town of Plainfield for the reconstruction and repair of Green Hollow Road, a main access to a commercial center. The project includes resurfacing, installation of additional drainage, and widening of the road.
"State investment in these municipal projects help keep Connecticut competitive," said Governor Malloy. "Through the STEAP partnerships, local projects that will directly benefit residents can move forward, improving commerce and strengthening business and residential corridors."
"This is the kind of local investment that shows how Connecticut is supporting residents and small businesses of southeastern Connecticut," said State Senator Andrew Maynard (D-Plainfield). "We are fortunate to have a governor who is business-friendly and understands the quality of life driven vision for our communities."
"I welcome Governor Mally to Plainfield. His contribution to the town through this STEAP Grant will allow for the revitalization of Green Hollow Road, stimulating growth for our small businesses," said State Representative Mae Flexer (D-Plainfield). "I thank the Governor for his leadership and his continued support of our community."
"The Town of Plainfield is very pleased that Governor Malloy recognizes that Green Hollow Road serves as a primary truck route for several large industrial businesses," said Paul Sweet, First Selectman. "These funds put the town in a position to make badly needed repairs to Green Hollow Road, making it safer for these businesses and their employees, as well as the many residents who must use this heavily traveled road every day."
