GOV. MALLOY ORDERS EXTENSION OF PRACTICE PROVISION FOR PHYSICAL THERAPIST ASSISTANT CANDIDATES
(HARTFORD, CT) - Governor Dannel P. Malloy today signed an executive order granting a 30-day extension of the 120-day temporary practice provision for Connecticut physical therapist assistant candidates who had been scheduled to take the October 30, 2012 licensure examination, which was postponed due to the impact of Storm Sandy on the state.
Under state law, candidates seeking licensure to become a physical therapist assistant and who have filed an application with the Department of Public Health (DPH) may practice as a physical therapist assistant under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist for a period not to exceed 120 days prior to taking the licensure examination. Governor Malloy's Executive Order No. 28 will allow these candidates to continue to practice under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist until they have an opportunity to take the rescheduled exam.
