GOV. MALLOY: FEMA TO OPERATE FIXED DISASTER RECOVERY CENTERS IN MILFORD AND NORWALK
All Centers Will Also be Open Later Hours to Assist Residents
(HARTFORD, CT) - Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that FEMA will operate additional fixed Disaster Recovery Centers (DRCs) in Milford and Norwalk to assist home owners and businesses affected by Storm Sandy. In addition, each of the other previously announced DRCs will be open longer hours on the days of their operation.
"For residents that were affected by Storm Sandy, these Recovery Centers can be a real asset in navigating the process for receiving aid from FEMA," said Governor Malloy. "If you live in one of the declared counties and you suffered damage from Storm Sandy, register with FEMA and visit one of these centers so you can learn what benefits you may qualify for."
To date, nearly $6 million in federal disaster assistance has been approved to help individuals with disaster expenses in Connecticut.
Residents in Fairfield, New Haven, Middlesex and New London Counties and businesses across the state who suffered damage as a result of Storm Sandy are encouraged to register with FEMA before visiting the recovery center by either calling 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) or by going online at
www.DisasterAssistance.gov
. For those with speech or hearing disabilities, the TTY number is 1-800-462-7585.
In addition, Governor Malloy is encouraging residents seeking additional information on how to apply for the assistance to download the fact sheet available at
