TUESDAY: GOV. MALLOY VISITS COMMISSIONER'S NETWORK SCHOOLS IN NEW HAVEN & BRIDGEPORT

(HARTFORD, CT) - On Tuesday, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will visit schools in New Haven and Bridgeport to showcase some of the reforms that are underway as a result of the education reform legislation that was passed last session by the state legislature and signed into law by the Governor.

The Commissioner's Network enables the state to provide intensive supports and interventions in some of the state's lowest-performing schools. Each school represents a different turnaround model for reform. In New Haven, that effort in being led by the local chapter of the American Federation of Teachers (AFT). In Bridgeport, school officials have opted for extended school days.

The visits will allow the Governor an opportunity to speak with school representatives, local elected officials, and teacher union representatives.

Following the visit to the New Haven school, Governor Malloy will hold a media availability with local officials and AFT union leaders.
