TUESDAY: GOV. MALLOY ATTENDS EVENTS CELEBRATING GROWTH OF BUSINESSES IN BERLIN & BETHEL; SPEAKS AT RAIL CONFERENCE

(HARTFORD, CT) - On Tuesday at noon, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will speak at an event celebrating the expansion of OKAY Industries, Inc. in Berlin. The company, which currently has about 220 employees at its New Britain headquarters, recently acquired a new 63,000 square-foot plant in Berlin and will hire about 20-30 new employees in connection with the expansion.

Later, Governor Malloy will give remarks at an event celebrating the expansion of Cycling Sports Group in Bethel. The Connecticut-based company currently has about 160 employees and delivers high-performance products to professional athletes and recreational cyclists. The company will be celebrating the opening of its new global research and development facility, which is anticipated to lead to further technological advancements and encourage business growth.

In the evening, Governor Malloy will speak at the NEC FUTURE scoping meeting in New Haven, where he will discuss the importance to Connecticut of enhancing the Northeast Corridor (NEC) and advocate for continued investment in, and expansion of, the existing and planned rail services in the state and throughout the region. NEC FUTURE is a comprehensive planning effort launched by the Federal Railroad Administration to define, evaluate and prioritize future rail investments in the Northeast Corridor. Governor Malloy serves as Lead Governor of Transportation for the Coalition of Northeastern Governors.
