MONDAY: GOV. MALLOY WELCOMES NATIONAL DISTRICT ATTORNEYS ASSOCIATION; HIGHLIGHTS WORK BEING DONE BY CONSERVATION CORPS
(HARTFORD, CT) - On Monday morning, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will give welcoming remarks the opening of the National District Attorneys Association's summer conference in Groton. This is the first time the national organization has held its conference in Connecticut.
Later, Governor Malloy will join Department of Energy & Environmental Protection Commissioner Daniel C. Esty and Department of Labor Acting Commissioner Dennis Murphy at an event in Southbury highlighting the work being done by 60 new members of Connecticut's Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC). The CCC was initiated by President Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1933 as a jobs program to combat unemployment and protect natural resources. Today, the CCC serves as an updated version of FDR's program and provides summer jobs to unemployed state residents between the ages of 18 and 25.
