SATURDAY: GOV. MALLOY SPEAKS AT CONN. BREAST HEALTH INITIATIVE RACE IN THE PARK; GIVES REMARKS AT SPECIAL OLYMPICS CEREMONY; SPEAKS AT BURNING OF THE SHIPS DAY; HONORED FOR ENVIRONMENTAL COMMITMENT

(HARTFORD, CT) - On Saturday morning, Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman will give welcoming remarks at the Connecticut Breast Health Initiative's Race in the Park in New Britain prior to the start of the women's 5K run. Proceeds from the event are donated to the nonprofit, whose mission is to fight breast cancer through education and research.

Also in the morning, Governor Malloy will give welcoming remarks at the opening ceremony for the Special Olympics of Connecticut 2012 Eastern Regional Games in West Hartford.

In the afternoon, Governor Malloy will give remarks at the annual Burning of the Ships Day ceremony in Essex. The event, presented by the Sailing Masters of 1812 Fife and Drums Corps, commemorates the historic 1814 British raid on Essex with a parade and waterfront ceremony.

In the evening, Governor Malloy will attend the SoundWaters Tall Ships Ball in Stamford, where he will be honored with the group's Founder's Award in recognition of his long-term commitment to environmental education and protection.
