GOV. MALLOY STATEMENT ON APRIL JOBS REPORT
(HARTFORD, CT) - Governor Dannel P. Malloy issued the following statement regarding today's release of the Connecticut Department of Labor's monthly "Labor Situation" report for April 2012, which indicates that the state's unemployment rate remained at 7.7 percent. The national unemployment rate is currently 8.1 percent.
"Since January 2011, there have been nearly 16,000 new, private sector jobs created, and the unemployment rate is down 20% - so, overall, there has been job growth. That said, I fully recognize that we have more work to do. I remain optimistic that moving forward we'll continue to create jobs."
