GOV. MALLOY ANNOUNCES ADDITIONAL STEAP GRANTS
Municipalities Will Make Infrastructure Improvements
(HARTFORD, CT) - Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that Fairfield, East Windsor, North Branford, North Haven, Somers, Thompson, Westport, and Willington will receive Small Town Economic Assistance Program (STEAP) awards for infrastructure improvement projects.
"These grants represent the important partnership between our towns and state government," said Governor Malloy. "As we work to reinvent Connecticut, supporting local projects that improve centers of commerce, town facilities, and schools will make us a stronger, more competitive state, all while improving the quality of life for residents."
The State Bond Commission allocated $20 million for 2012 STEAP grants in September 2011, with the first awards coming in December 2011. Grants are awarded to small towns across the state in part due to their impact on overall regional economic development.
