THURSDAY: GOV. MALLOY PARTICIPATES IN CEREMONY AT SUBMARINE BASE; HOSTS MEDIA AVAILABILITY WITH 30 ALLIANCE DISTRICT MAYORS; HONORED BY CT APPLESEED CENTER

(HARTFORD, CT) - On Thursday morning, Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman will participate in a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Pier 31 at the Naval Submarine Base New London in Groton. The project is part of the extensive enhancements and upgrades at the sub base that have been ongoing since 2005.

In the afternoon, Governor Malloy will hold a private meeting with the mayors, first selectmen and municipal leaders from each of the 30 proposed alliance districts to discuss the Governor's education reform proposals. Immediately following the conclusion of their meeting, which is scheduled to end at 3:30 p.m., the Governor and the municipal leaders will hold a media availability.

In the evening, Governor Malloy will be recognized by the Connecticut Appleseed Center for Law and Justice at a ceremony in Hartford, where the organization will honor the Governor with their "Good Apple Award" for his advocacy on behalf of education and social justice issues.
