GOV. MALLOY NOMINATES ARTHUR HOUSE AS A DIRECTOR OF PURA
(HARTFORD, CT) - Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that he has nominated Arthur H. House of Simsbury to serve as a Director of the state's Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA).
"Throughout his career, Art has routinely exhibited strong leadership qualities and an independent voice, in addition to possessing valuable public service experience that will serve well in this role," Governor Malloy said. "He is passionate about his work and will provide a dynamic voice to carry out PURA's mission."
House most recently served as Chief of the Communications Group for the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, a combat support agency of the U.S. Department of Defense and the nation's primary source of geospatial intelligence. Previously, he served as Director of Communications at the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, and Senior Vice President of Public Affairs at Webster Bank.
"Governor Malloy and I have discussed the importance of PURA's role in Connecticut's energy future," House said. "I am honored by the nomination and look forward to working with PURA on the critical challenges that lie ahead."
PURA is statutorily charged with regulating the rates and services of Connecticut's investor-owned electricity, natural gas, water and telecommunication companies and is the franchising authority for the state's cable television companies.
House will fill the position previously held by Anna M. Ficeto, who was recently sworn in as a Superior Court judge.
