GOVERNOR MALLOY ACCEPTS INVITATION TO PARTICIPATE IN WORLD ECONOMIC FORUM IN DAVOS, SWITZERLAND
Invitation Presents an Opportunity to Bring Jobs Message Directly to World Leaders
(HARTFORD, CT) - Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that he has accepted an invitation to participate in the World Economic Forum's annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland. The trip, which is being paid for by the UConn Foundation in an effort to help the Governor promote Connecticut as an emerging leader in Bioscience, will take place between January 25th and 29th. The cost of the governor to participate in the forum is approximately $4,500.
"Throughout my first year in office, I've taken every opportunity to send the message that Connecticut is open for business," said Governor Malloy. "I can't imagine a better opportunity to share that sentiment with leaders from around the world than at the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum. It's a real honor, and I am proud that I will get to represent the people of Connecticut at such an important event."
The World Economic Forum (WEF) presents an unparalleled opportunity for the Governor to meet with the world's leading CEOs in his effort to further market the job growth opportunities available in Connecticut. According to WEF, the meeting will be attended by over 2,600 participants from nearly 100 countries, comprising:

In addition, Governor Malloy has been invited to a private industry meeting called: "Manufacturing for Growth: Cross-industry Partners session with Mobility, Chemicals, Information Technology, Telecommunications and Consumers Industries." This private session will convene top executives from various manufacturing and supply chain industries and top policy-makers to discuss implications for business and government and propose future directions for how manufacturing can drive economic growth.

The Governor is also planning an ambitious schedule of meetings with business leaders, the details of which will be released in the next few days. He will also talk with Connecticut's press corps via conference call at some point during his trip, the logistics of which will be announced.
"We've made smart investments in bioscience that have already paid dividends, specifically with Jackson Laboratories decision to build a world-class research center on the UConn Health Center campus," continued Governor Malloy. "I believe that Connecticut is in the process of becoming a leader in this emerging field. We have a long way to go, but I'm going to work every day to reinvent Connecticut, so that we can bring new opportunities to our residents and spur our economy."
