GOV. MALLOY SIGNS ORDERS EXTENDING DEADLINES FOR PERSONAL PROPERTY TAX DECLARATIONS, UNEMPLOYMENT INSURANCE FILINGS
Signs Executive Orders No. 13 & 14
(HARTFORD, CT) - Governor Dannel P. Malloy on Wednesday afternoon signed two separate executive orders extending to November 15 the deadlines by which both personal property tax declarations and unemployment insurance tax filings must be reported.
"Understanding the emergency situation as a result of this weekend's unprecedented snowstorm that both residents and businesses are currently coping with, the administration feels that it is in the best interests to extend these deadlines and allow adequate time for them to be filed," Governor Malloy said.
Under current state statutes, personal property tax declarations were required to be filed by November 1, and unemployment insurance tax filings by October 31.
The state of emergency declaration Governor Malloy signed Saturday in response to this weekend's severe snowstorm provides him with certain emergency powers he may utilize in response, including the suspension or modification of certain state statutes.
The orders are the 13th and 14th Governor Malloy has signed during his term.
