HEEDING HARTFORD'S DECISION, GOVERNOR'S RESIDENCE WILL NOT OPEN TO TRICK-OR-TREATERS TONIGHT
(HARTFORD, CT) - Heeding Hartford Mayor Pedro Segarra's decision urging Hartford families and children to abstain from trick-or-treating in the city tonight, Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the Governor's Residence, typically a popular spot for kids trick-or-treating in Hartford, will not be handing out candy this Halloween. Earlier today, Governor Malloy urged local mayors and first selectmen to make a decision about Halloween celebrations in their respective cities and towns.
"No amount of candy is worth a potentially serious or even fatal accident," said Gov. Malloy. "With about 40% of power out in the Capital City, Cathy and I are heeding Mayor Segarra's decision and have decided not to open the residence to trick-or-treaters tonight."
