GOV. MALLOY: S.T.O.R.M. IRENE PANEL TO MEET TUESDAY
Panel Continues Assessment of Response to Tropical Storm Irene
(HARTFORD, CT) - Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that the State Team Organized for the Review of Management of Irene (S.T.O.R.M. Irene) assessment panel will next meet on Tuesday, October 25, to continue its review of the preparedness, response and recovery efforts of the state and its partners - including the utilities and municipalities - related to Tropical Storm Irene.
Experts in science and meteorology are expected to give presentations to the panel on how to better understand Connecticut's vulnerability to extreme weather, followed by presentations from utility specialists with risk assessments of Connecticut's electric infrastructure. The panel was formed by Governor Malloy and held its first meeting on September 28. The group is
comprised of eight members
with diverse professional backgrounds in the military, disaster relief, municipal government, non-profit and labor sectors. Once complete with its review, the team is anticipated to report back to the Governor with its evaluation.
Tuesday's meeting will begin at 10 a.m. in Room 2B of the Legislative Office Building in Hartford.
