WEDNESDAY: GOV. MALLOY ATTENDS CCSU GROUNDBREAKING; CONTINUES JOBS TOUR IN LEBANON AND WINDHAM
(HARTFORD, CT) - On Wednesday morning, Governor Dannel P. Malloy will attend the groundbreaking ceremony at Central Connecticut State University for the new Academic Building on the campus. The building, a part of the CSUS 2020 project, will provide a permanent location for classrooms and offices related to the school's Sociology, Anthropology, Political Science, Geography, and History departments.
Continuing on his Jobs Tour, on Wednesday afternoon Governor Malloy and Department of Economic & Community Development Commissioner Catherine Smith will meet with groups of business people throughout Connecticut's agriculture industry at Prides Corner Farms in Lebanon where they will gain insight from employers as to how best to stimulate job creation in the agricultural sector. Representatives from the greenhouse, nursery, poultry, egg, dairy, meat production, aquaculture, produce, orchard, wine production, organic products, Christmas tree, tobacco, maple syrup and honey sectors of the Connecticut agriculture industry have been invited. Agriculture is a critical sector of Connecticut's economy, generating annual statewide sales in the range of $2.7 to $3.5 billion and 16,650 to 22,753 jobs.
Also on Wednesday afternoon, Governor Malloy and Commissioner Smith will meet with the Windham Region Chamber of Commerce in Willimantic for a roundtable discussion concerning competitiveness issues and ways to strengthen the business climate in the region.
