MONDAY: GOV. MALLOY CONTINUES JOBS TOUR IN MIDDLETOWN; TOURS PRESTON RIVERWALK; VISITS NORWICH TRANSPORTATION CENTER
(HARTFORD, CT) - Continuing his Jobs Tour, on Monday morning Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Department of Economic & Community Development Commissioner Catherine Smith will visit with the Connecticut Conference of Independent Colleges (CCIC) in Middletown for a roundtable meeting to discuss ways the organization's member institutions and the state can work cohesively to help stimulate job growth and economic development. CCIC represents sixteen accredited nonprofit independent colleges and universities in Connecticut, bound by a common commitment to quality instruction and dedicated to collaborative efforts that strengthen the independent sector of higher education.
On Monday afternoon, Governor Malloy will join State Senator Andrew Maynard (D-Stonington), State Representative Tom Reynolds (D-Ledyard), and the Preston Redevelopment Agency for a tour of Preston Riverwalk, the former Norwich State Hospital site in Preston. The Governor will be given a briefing and presentation by the group on proposed redevelopment plans, followed by a tour of the property.
Also on Monday afternoon, Governor Malloy will join Norwich Mayor Peter Nystrom, Norwich City Council members, and members from the Norwich Community Development Corporation for a visit to the new Norwich Intermodal Transportation Center (ITC). The Governor will be presented with an update on the construction progress and future plans for the ITC.
