GOV. MALLOY ORDERS FLAGS TO HALF STAFF FOR SERGEANT EDWARD J. FRANK II
(HARTFORD, CT) - Governor Dannel P. Malloy today ordered the Connecticut and U.S. flags to fly at half staff in honor of Sergeant Edward J. Frank II, who was killed in action in Nalgham, Afghanistan when his mounted patrol vehicle struck an IED.
"We are mourning the loss of yet another one of Connecticut's fallen heroes," said Governor Malloy. "These wars have taken a terrible toll on our military and their families, and they cast a long shadow over communities all across Connecticut. Cathy and I offer our condolences to Sergeant Frank's family, his friends, and the rest of his unit serving in Afghanistan. Our thoughts and our prayers are with those who are grieving for the brave men and women who have lost their lives in service to the nation, and our troops who are still overseas."
Sgt. Frank, 26, born in Hartford, served in the Army's 1st Battalion, 32d Infantry, 3rd Brigade Combat Team out of Fort Drum, New York. His wife and family live in New York.
Flags will remain at half staff until Sgt. Frank's memorial or burial.
