GOV. MALLOY ORDERS FLAGS RAISED TO FULL STAFF AT SUNSET ON SATURDAY
(HARTFORD, CT) - Governor Dannel P. Malloy orders that the U.S. and Connecticut flags be returned to full staff at sunset on Saturday.
The flags were lowered on June 1, 2011 in honor of Army Specialist Richard Charlton Emmons III, a 22 year old Granby native who was killed in action when his vehicle was hit by a rocket propelled grenade during a mounted patrol in Logar Province, Afghanistan. Specialist Emmons enlisted in 2009 and was a member of the 2nd Battalion, 30th Infantry, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division out of Fort Polk, Louisiana.
Funeral services for Specialist Emmons will be held on Saturday in New Jersey.
Flags will be returned to full staff Saturday at sunset.
