GOVERNOR MALLOY SIGNS DECLARATION OF CIVIL PREPAREDNESS EMERGENCY; ALL NON-ESSENTIAL STATE WORKERS SHOULD NOT REPORT UNTIL 12 P.M. AT THE EARLIEST

**Malloy will brief media tomorrow morning at 6 a.m. at the Emergency Operation Center**

(HARTFORD, CT) - At 9:11 p.m. this evening, Governor Dannel P. Malloy signed a Declaration of Civil Preparedness Emergency, in advance of the impending snow storm which is expected to drop between 15 and 23 inches of snow across the state. In addition, Governor Malloy ordered all non-essential state employees to report to work no earlier than 12 p.m. on Wednesday. However, state employees should continue to check the state Department of Emergency Management and Homeland Security's website ( www.ct.gov/demhs ) and their local television station, for additional updates tomorrow morning at or before 6 a.m.

"After meeting with key commissioners across several agencies, and consulting several weather forecast models and data, I chose to sign a Declaration of Civil Preparedness Emergency in advance of the storm's peak snowfall, to ensure that I have the ability and authority to keep Connecticut residents safe and our roads and highways clear. It's in our state's best interest to think ahead in situations such as these, and the updates I've received over the past several days has made it clear to me that this is a substantial snow storm with which we must be prepared to deal efficiently and safely."

In addition, Governor Malloy and key commissioners will hold a 5 a.m. conference call tomorrow morning, and Governor Malloy will be available to brief the media at 6 a.m. at the Emergency Operation Center at the William O'Neill Armory in Hartford.
