DPH Offers FREE Seminar on Oral Health


DPH OFFERS FREE SEMINAR ON ORAL HEALTH FOR OLDER ADULTS TO MEDICAL, DENTAL PROFESSIONALS AND COMMUNITY HEALTH WORKERS

One day summit to be held on March 2nd in Wallingford


 

HARTFORD, CT – The Connecticut Department of Public Health Office of Oral Health and its partners, the Connecticut Oral Health Initiative, and the Institute for Community Research, today announced it will be presenting a one-day summit – Oral Health for Older Adults Inter-Professional Summit – on Friday, March 2nd from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Hilton Garden Inn in Wallingford.  The summit is free and open to medical and dental professionals, community health and social workers, and stakeholders from throughout the state.

Online registration begins January 29, 2018.  Participants can register at http://bit.ly/seniororalhealth.  A total of up to 7 Continuing Education Unit credits can be earned at no cost to the participant.

This Continuing Education Seminar will focus on key areas, including: cultural awareness, older adult pharmaceutical considerations, silver diamine considerations, prediabetes screenings, treatment planning, oral health program considerations for older adults, and communication strategies. 

A who’s who of national and local experts will be on hand as both presenters and panelists.  Former Department on Aging Commissioner, Betsy Ritter, will provide the opening remarks.  Speakers will include Mary Boudreau, Molly Rees Gavin, Thomas Viola, Midge Malicki, Matt Jacob, Dr. Samuel Zwetchkenbaum, Dr. Keri Discepolo, and Dr. Kadambari Rawal. Panelists will include Dr. Alison Stratton, Marisa Gillio, and Dr. Sarita Arteaga.
