Scientific Support Services

The Laboratory receives approximately 250,000 test requests annually.  The validity of any given test is dependent upon the proper transport, handling, and storage of the submitted environmental sample or clinical specimen.  The Scientific Support Services section is an integral part of laboratory operations, protecting the integrity and security of the submitted material, and employing procedures to track these submissions throughout the testing process.Blood Specimens Awaiting Testing

Scientific Support Services also prepares collection kits for clients, provides consumables, media, and glassware for use by Laboratory testing sections, removes and decontaminates waste, and generates Laboratory reports of test results for distribution to clients.

Collection supplies may be requested by calling Scientific Support Services at 860-920-6674 or by submitting an email request to dph.outfitroom@ct.gov .
