Healthcare-associated Infections Healthcare Facility Data Reports for Providers
2018 Data
Healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) are infections patients can get while receiving medical treatment in a healthcare facility. The Centers for Disease Control and Preventions (CDC) and Connecticut Department of Public Health (DPH) are making elimination of HAIs a priority. Infection data are reported by healthcare facility staff to the CDC National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) and are analyzed by DPH HAI Program staff.
These reports describe DPH’s progress in preventing central line-associated bloodstream infections (CLABSI), catheter-associated urinary tract infections (CAUTI), select surgical site infections (SSI), ventilator-associated events (VAE), hospital-onset Clostridium difficile infections (CDI), and hospital-onset methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) bacteremia (bloodstream infections) in healthcare facilities.
The HAI Provider Report may help patients who need hospital care learn about healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) at the healthcare facility they may choose. In this report, hospitals, long term care hospitals, and inpatient rehabilitation facilities are listed together in tables. You can see information about different healthcare facilities in the same place. Patients can use this information to ask healthcare providers questions before seeking and/or while receiving medical treatment. Asking the right questions can also help you learn what you can do to prevent infections.
The Individual Healthcare Facility Data Reports compare its data to both the annual statewide average and national baseline. The reports show the consumer how well the facility is preventing HAIs.
