If you have received a DMV suspension notice regarding your vehicle insurance, and you would like to dispute the $200.00 fine, there are several ways to do so:
- I can prove that I had insurance on the vehicle.
- I sold my vehicle.
- I moved out of state (on or before the insurance cancellation date on your suspension letter.)
- The vehicle owner is deceased.
- I would like to request a hearing to dispute my suspension.

- Provide a copy of: 1) a letter from your insurance company on its letterhead showing coverage, including coverage for the reported cancellation period, or 2) your new insurance company’s declaration page or permanent insurance card, showing coverage for the reported cancellation period. Send the copy to the address below.
- You will receive a notification from DMV within 14 days once your documents have been received.

If you no longer own your vehicle, please do the following to close your case:
- Cancel the vehicle's registration with DMV. You can do this online.
- Mail to DMV a copy of one of the following: 1) bill of sale, 2) junk receipt, 3) repossession document, 4) total loss document, or 5) front and back of title signed over on or before the insurance cancellation date listed at the top of your suspension notice. Send copy to address below.
- You will receive a notification from DMV within 14 days once your documents have been received.

- Make a copy of your current registration from the new state and send it to the address below.
- You will receive a notification from DMV within 14 days once your documents have been received.
