With the exception of the Emissions Technicians Training and Certification Program, the State of Connecticut does not certify mechanics. However, many mechanics are nationally certified through independent organizations such as the Automotive Service Excellence Institute in Washington, D.C.

Note: Certification is required to properly repair vehicles that have failed emissions testing in order to qualify for a waiver.
