State Police Detectives Investigate Willimantic Untimely Death

Willimantic, CT. (August 25, 2016): State Police Detectives from Eastern District Major Crime are investigating an untimely death at the Willimantic Police Department.

On August 25, 2016 at approximately 4:00 a.m., the Windham County Judicial State Attorney’s Office and the Willimantic Police Chief requested that state police detectives from Eastern District Major Crime respond to the Willimantic Police Department for an untimely death in the cell block area. EMDC responded to the scene and assumed the investigation.

A prisoner who had been arrested earlier in the evening for domestic violence charges was observed in the cell and appeared to be unresponsive. Willimantic Police officers responded to the cell block area and found that the victim was unresponsive and initiated CPR. EMS responded to the scene and transported the victim to Windham Hospital where was later pronounced deceased.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will conduct a post-mortem exam to determine cause and manner of death.

The victim’s identity is pending next of kin notification.
