FINAL: Connecticut State Police Thanksgiving Holiday Enforcement

   MIDDLETOWN, CT (November 28, 2016): During the Thanksgiving Holiday weekend the Connecticut State Police supplemented their normal patrol force with additional State Troopers. The increased patrols began at 12:01 a.m. on Wednesday, 11/23/2016, and concluded at 11:59 p.m. on Sunday 11/27/2016. 

   Troopers not only patrolled the roads and highways across Connecticut focusing on drunken driving violations and aggressive drivers, but DUI checkpoints and roving patrols were established. 

   These final State Police stats cover the time period starting at midnight on 11/23/16 to 11/27/16 at 11:59 p.m.

SPEEDING violations:          1,007

SEATBELT violations:           450

OTHER HAZARDOUS MOVING violations:  2,991

 (to include unsafe lane change, following too closely, cell phone usage, texting, failure to signal, etc.)

DUI arrests:                       56

ACCIDENTS investigated:    496   

w/injury:                            56  

fatality:                              2 (11/25 I-84 Southbury and 11/27 assumed the investigation in the Town of Branford)

TOTAL CALLS FOR SERVICE:  9,380 (this number includes all numbers already listed)

MOTORIST ASSISTS:  421 stranded motorists to include broken down vehicles, flat tires, etc.
