                      2009  ***UPDATED***  STATE POLICE "OPERATION SANTA" ENFORCEMENT and ACCIDENT STATS

   The Connecticut State Police continued the enforcement program throughout the weekend, designed to enhance public safety on highways and roadways in the state.  In addition to the regular patrol responsibilities, State Troopers concentrated patrol and enforcement efforts on roads and highways where crashes occurred involving alcohol. 

   The following data is an overview of accident investigations that were conducted and enforcement action that took place during Operation SANTA (Stop Another Needless Tragic Accident).

   These State Police stats are from 12:01 a.m. on 12/24/09 to 12:00 a.m. 12/27/09:

   As the New Year's Holiday approaches and celebrations are planned, State Police remind motorists not to mix alcohol with the driving of a vehicle.  State Poilce will be out in force over this holiday.  Any motorist who sees a suspected drunk driver should report it immediately this is a true emergency - contact the police by calling 911.  Be our eyes and ears out there - this will enhance highway safety and keep everyone safe.
