TROOPERS INVESTIGATE ROBBERY IN NORTH GROSVENORDALE

On Saturday, December 19, 2009, at 7:08 p.m., Troop D received a report from the clerk at Route 12 Famous Frank's Hotdog Stand, 897 Riverside Dr., North Grosvenordale, reporting that the restaurant had just been robbed.  Troopers from Troop D responded to the scene. Detectives from the State Police Eastern District Major Crime Squad were called in to investigate and process the scene for evidence.

Investigation revealed that at approximately 7:00 PM, the clerk was in the kitchen area working when he heard the door close. As he walked out to the counter, a male subject with a cloth over his face displayed a knife, threatening the clerk and demanding the money.  The suspect took cash from the cash register and fled on foot away from the store. The clerk chased the suspect in a northerly direction up Rawson Avenue, where the suspect entered an awaiting vehicle and fled the area. The clerk sustained a minor arm injury during the robbery. An undisclosed amount of cash was taken during the robbery.

The suspect is described as a white male, 5’6” to 5’8” tall, 230 lbs, wearing a dark ball cap, white cloth over his face, dark winter jacket and jeans. The vehicle from which he fled is described as a blue or black mid-sized four-door sedan, possibly with a lighter colored cloth-type roof.

State Police are asking anyone with information about this crime, or who travelled on Rawson Avenue around 7:00 p.m. that night, to contact Detectives at Troop D at (860) 779-4900 or the Anonymous Crime Tips Hotline at (860) 779-4944.
