STATE POLICE MAKE ARREST IN COLUMBIA BANK ROBBERY

On July 13, 2009 State Police were called to the New Alliance Bank, 164 Route 66, in Columbia at about 1: 15 p.m. for a reported Bank Robbery.  Troopers obtained preliminary information that a lone, heavy-set, black male, 5’6”, 190 pounds entered the bank and demanded money.  The man did not imply or display a weapon.

After running out of the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash, the accused managed to escape on foot.

Connecticut State Troopers responded to the scene and secured the scene.  State Police Major Crime Detectives responded to the scene to process the crime scene and initiate the investigation into this robbery.  There were no injuries during this incident.

At approximately 7:32 p.m. on 7/13/2009 State Troopers located the accused a short distance from the scene.  The accused was taken into custody without incident.  The accused was transported to Troop K Colchester.
