SOMERS MAN ARRESTED BY STATE POLICE   

   On 9/13/09, the Somers Resident State Trooper’s Office received a complaint regarding a sexually explicit ad that was posted on the Craigslist website. Troopers initiated an investigation that revealed that there were multiple ads posted by the same person identifying a specific business and the employees of that business.

   The graphic nature of the ads and the fact that they targeted specific employees caused alarm and concern for the parties involved. 

   State Police initiated a criminal investigation utilizing personnel from the Somers Resident Trooper's Office and the State Police Computer Crime Unit.  The accused was identified as a suspect in the investigation.

   The State Police computer Crime Unit obtained evidence during the investigation that the accused was having inappropriate explicit conversations with a 15-year-old juvenile. State Police Detectives from the computer crimes unit obtained a search and seizure warrant from Superior Court to search the accused Leighton’s residence in Somers.

   On 10/1/09, the search warrant was executed and the accused was arrested and charged with Breach of Peace (3 counts), Harassment (2 counts) and Risk of Injury to a Minor.  

   The accused was released on a $25,000 bond and is schedule to appear in Rockville Court on 10/14/09.

   The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are anticipated.
