                                                         ** UPDATE **
                     VICTIM IN VOLUNTOWN SUSPICIOUS DEATH IDENTIFIED

   On July 9, 2008, at approximately 6:45 p.m., a State Police Trooper on patrol was notified by a passing motorist that a female, who appeared to be the victim of an accident, was lying in the middle of the road near 175 Shetucket Road in Voluntown.  The Trooper responded to the scene and located a severely injured female in the road. The Trooper provided emergency care until the arrival of EMS personnel. The female was transported to Backus Hospital and was pronounced dead.

   The scene was secured by responding Troopers and several witnesses were identified and interviewed.

   State Police Eastern District Major Crime Detectives were assigned to respond to assume the criminal investigation into this incident. State Police Detectives gathered physical and forensic evidence at the scene and conducted interviews of several witnesses.

   The deceased female is identified as RAYMOND, ASHLEE, DOB 5/19/83,LKA Talcott Rd., Jewitt City, CT.

   Today, 07/10/08, the office of the Chief State's Medical Examiner conducted a post mortem examination of the deceased and determined the deceased suffered blunt trauma head injury.

   State Police Detectives will continue the investigation into this death.
