STATE POLIC INVESTIGATE

UNTIMELY DEATH-ACCIDENTAL BROOKLYN, CT.

 

    On 04/24/2008 at 2:58 a.m. Quinebaug Valley 911 Center at State Police Troop D in Danielson received a 911 call reporting a male subject unconscious in front of 177 South Main Street Brooklyn, Ct. EMS from the East Brooklyn Fire Department and KB Ambulance responded to the scene along with State Troopers from Troop D. Emergency Care was provided on the male subject and he was transported to Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam, CT. where he was pronounced dead.

   The scene where the victim was found was secured by State Police Troopers and Detectives from the Eastern District Major Crime Squad were called to conduct the investigation into this incident.

 

   The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Farmington, CT. conducted a post mortem examination of the deceased.

 

   As a result of the Major Crime investigation, State Police Detectives determined that the deceased identified as Benjamin J. Lanning DOB: 03/06/1984 of 177 South Main Street Apartment E Brooklyn, Ct. died as a result of multiple blunt traumatic injuries. Detectives further learned that Lanning had a history of exiting onto the roof of the apartment building he resided in from a kitchen window and frequenting the rooftop of the building.

 

   State Police Detectives obtained the assistance of the Danielson Fire Department utilizing their aerial ladder truck to examine the rooftop scene and to search for evidence from the rooftop of the building for this investigation.  

 

    The investigation has determined that this was an accidental death.
