STATE POLICE PURSUIT RESULTS IN SUSPECT'S ARREST

On 08-26-2008, at approximately 12:35 p.m., State Police at Troop I received a radio call from the New Haven Police Department.  New Haven P.D. requested State Police assistance in stopping an Acura, bearing CT registration 820-WKB that was being followed by two of their detectives in an unmarked New Haven Police car in reference to a New Haven Police felony investigation.

State Police Troopers responded to the areas to provide assistance in stopping the suspect car. An off duty Trooper, TFC J. Vegliante overheard the radio broadcast and responded to assist in the stop. In addition, TFC D. Dubois and TFC. Taylor positioned themselves to effect the stop.

The second CSP cruiser continued to attempt to stop the suspect, when the suspect sped up and intentionally rammed that State Police cruiser twice before coming to rest on the right shoulder.

The accused fled on foot a short distance into the wooded area off the shoulder of the highway. TFC Veglianteand TFC Dubois captured the accused and took the accused into custody without further incident. Both Troopers sustained minor injuries and were transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital where they were treated and released.
