                               STATE POLICE MAKE ARREST

IN ASSAULT/RISK OF INJURY TO MINOR CASE

On May 8, 2008, at 4:06 p.m., Enfield Police contacted State Police Troop C and reported that they had received a report from an Enfield pediatrician who stated that she had just treated a baby that she believed was abused. The one-month-old baby had been transported to Connecticut Children’s Medical Center for treatment.

The Connecticut State Police Eastern District Major Crime Unit assumed the criminal investigation. State Police Detectives learned that the accused Scott Perigo, DOB 8-16-90, was staying with his girlfriend at her residence located at 89 Metcalf Road in Tolland.  Also at the residence was a one-month-old baby boy who was fathered by her ex-boyfriend.

Sometime in the early morning hours on 05/08/08 the baby began to cry, so accused Scott Perigo attended to the infant. During the course of changing the baby’s diaper, the child urinated on Piergo and he assaulted the baby causing serious injury.

Doctors at CCMC report that the baby sustained multiple skull fractures, and contusions to the body. The baby's prognosis is unknown at this time.

As a result of the investigation an arrest warrant was drafted and submitted to the Tolland Superior Court to charge accused Scott Perigo with Assault, 1st degree, and Risk of Injury to a Minor.

On Tuesday, 7-8-08, accused Scott Perigo, DOB 8-16-90, was arrested at the Troop C Barracks in Tolland on the above stated charges and held on a $250,000.00 bond pending his appearance in Tolland Superior Court GA #19 on 7-9-08.

The investigation is continuing by State Police Eastern District Major Crime Unit.
