               STATE POLICE MAKE ARREST AT MIDDLETOWN SUPERIOR COURT

   Today, 05/05/08, shortly after 9:30 a.m., State Police atTroop F in Westbrook were contacted by Judicial Marshals Office at Middletown Superior Court to report an attempt to bring a weapon into the courthouse.

   The marshals reported that the accused was going through the screening process to enter the courthouse to attend a court proceeding.  While scanning a briefcase carried by the accused, the Marshals, utilizing the x-ray machine at Middlesex Superior Court, observed a knife in the briefcase. Further examination confirmed the weapon and the suspect were detained for State Police response. State Troopers interviewed the Judicial Marshals who indicated that the weapon seized was a knife that was approximately 13 inches, with a 7-inch blade. 

   The accused was placed under arrest and transported to Troop F in Westbrook.

   The accused was placed under arrest and transported to Troop F in Westbrook.

   The accused was released on $1,000 bond. No additional arrests are anticipated.
