                                             STATE POLICE INVESTIGATE

                                 ELDERLY ASSAULT/STABBINGINCIDENT

   On 04/25/08, at approximately 1:00 a.m., State Police Troop K received a 911 call from an occupant of a home on 10 Senate Brook Drive in Hebron. The caller reported that his elderly father-in-law had assaulted his elderly wife and, while the assault was in progress, the caller’s wife was awakened by the incident, responded and attempted to intervene at which time she was also injured.  Immediate medical assistance and State Police response was requested.

   State Troopers responded, entered the home,secured the scene, and EMS was able to enter to provide emergency care to the both victims. The elderly female victim identified as FRANCIOUS GENESSE, DOB: 10/04/24, and she was transported via helicopter to Hartford Hospital in critical condition. The second victim, MONIQUE GONSALVES, DOB: 08/10/49, received medical treatment at the scene for non-life-threatening minor wounds.

   The elderly male who was taken into custody by State Police at the scene. The accused was transported to Troop K Colchester where he was processed and held on $1,000,000 bond to appear in Superior Court GA #19, Rockville.

CHARGES:    Criminal Attempt At Murder

                   Assault on Elderly  Person

                   Assault 2nd

   State Police Major Crime Squad Detectives responded to the scene at 10 Senate Brook Road to process the scene and conduct the criminal investigation into this assault and stabbing incident.  Detectives have determined that the elderly couple was residing at the residence with their daughter and son-in-law and suffering from medical issues when this incident occurred.

   The investigation in continuing.
