                                STATE POLICE ARREST ARMED SUSPECT

   On 04/07/08 at 9:20 a.m. Troopers were dispatched to 501 Valley Road (Whetstone Apartments) in East Killingly for the report of a tenant of that apartment complex walking in the hallways of the apartments causing a disturbance and damaging the fire hose storage unit.

   Upon their arrival the two Troopers searched for the suspect and located him in the second floor hallway. The Troopers observed that the suspect was armed with a knife and yelling irrationally. The Troopers ordered the suspect to drop the knife several times. The suspect  refused and made numerous slashing motions with the knife toward the Troopers. The suspect attempted to flee from the Troopers but suddenly stopped and  again waved the knife frantically and yelling at Troopers.

   The Troopers warned the suspect to drop the knife several times. The suspect refuse all commands to disarm.  One of the Troopers was forced to deploy his issued TASER, striking the suspect who immediately fell to the floor and release the knife.

   The accused was taken into custody without further incident and subsequently charged with below listed criminal charges.

Accused:        Pearsall, Todd D. W/M DOB 06/27/70

                                  501 Valley Road Apt #206 (Whetstone Apartments) 

                                  East Killingly, Connecticut.                                     

Charge(s):     Criminal Attempt to commit Assault 1st

                       Threatening

                       Criminal Mischief

                        Disorderly Conduct

   Pearsall was transported to Day Kimball Hospital for an emergency examination. He was returned to State Police custody where he was processed was held on a $100,000 cash bond. Pearsall will appear in Superior Court GA#11 in Danielson, CT on 04/08/08.
