             STATE POLICE INVESTIGATELAW ENFORCEMENT SHOOTING IN HARTFORD

       Today, 12/15/08, at approximately 3:15 p.m., three Hartford Police Officers and a Deputy US Marshal were conducting a firearms possession investigation in the Pawtucket Street area of the city. The officers had developed information of a suspect who was in a vehicle in possession of a weapon in the Pawtucket area. The officers located the car on Pawtucket St.  They stopped the suspect car and they attempted to approach the car to continue their investigation when suddenly gunfire came from the interior of the car.

     The officers and U.S. Marshal returned fire at the suspects. Upon gaining control of the three suspects from the vehicle, investigators determined that all three suspects were wounded.

     The police officers provided emergency care to the wounded and requested EMS response to the scene. The three wounded suspects were treated at the scene and transported to Hartford Hospital. It is reported that one suspect is in serious condition at Hartford Hospital.

     None of the Hartford officers or U.S. Marshal were injured during this incident. The identities of the officers involved in this shooting is being withheld at this time.

     At the request of the Hartford State’s Attorney and the Hartford Chief of Police the Connecticut State Police Central District Major Crime Squad was requested to respond to this scene to conduct the investigation into this police shooting.

   The case remains under investigation by the Connecticut State Police.
