                         STATE POLICE MAKE LARCENY ARREST

State Police Detectives assigned to Troop-K  Colchester initiated a criminal investigation after receiving a formal complaint from the State of Connecticut Department of Tourism of possible misappropriation of funds.       

State Police Detectives examined an extensive amount of records and conducted interviews in this case.  Detectives gathered facts and circumstances in this investigation and learned that from June of 2006 until May of 2007 the accused had made nine illegal withdrawals from a Tourism account funded by the State of Connecticut, to himself.

The accused is subcontracted company known as Office Support System LLC. They are subcontracted to work for the State of Connecticut Department of Tourism capturing information from visits to the State of Connecticut tourism website. The company was also to provide those people who were visiting Connecticut with literature about the state.

State Police Detectives submitted an arrest warrant application to Superior Court GA # 21 in Norwich for the arrest of the accused. The warrant was issued on 04-17-2008 State Police Detectives from the Eastern District Major Crime Squad located the accused took him into custody without incident.

ARRESTED: Mr. Richard Cardone

CHARGES:   Larceny in the first degree (6cts)

                       Larceny in the second Degree (3cts).

The accused was processed at Troop-K Colchester and held on a $100,000.00 court set bond.  The accused will appear in Superior Court GA#21 on 04/24/08
