                        STATE POLICE INVESTIGATE BANK ROBBERY

Today 08/18/08 shortly after 1:45 p.m. State Police Troop-F Westbrook received a report of a bank robbery that had just taken place at the Citizen Bank located at 6 Killingworth Rd. in Higganum.  State Troopers responded to and secured the area of the bank.

Responding State Trooper’s Initial investigation revealed that a lone male approximately 5’8” tall, stocky build entered the bank.  He was wearing a mask, wearing dark colored sweat pants, a dark sweatshirt with a hood and displayed a handgun. He was also carrying a beach type bag that was blue and red plaid.

The robber fled the bank with an undisclosed amount of money to a waiting white older sedan possibly bearing New Hampshire registration plate 1575783.

All information regarding this robbery was broadcast to all surrounding police agencies. State Police conducted a search of the area utilizing State Police personnel, K-9 teams and Trooper one. 

The State Police Central District Major Crime Squad Detectives responded to this scene to conduct the investigation into this robbery.  There were no reported injuries sustained.

State Police are continuing the investigation into this bank robbery.  Anyone who was in the area of the bank and may have seen anything at the Citizen Bank or the surrounding area are asked to contact State Police at 860 399-2100 all calls will be kept confidential.
